We aim for theory based understanding and control of dynamic and complex life phenomena.

Overview

In recent years, scope of research in life science is not only limited to proteins and nucleic acids, but also expanding into complex organisms such as virus, cells, and microbiome, and drug development based on such entities is actively ongoing. When we aim to commercialize dynamic and complex life phenomena, high level understanding and control of life phenomena is a major challenge.

JSR has been conducting research and development in the life science field based on the technologies in the petrochemical and semiconductor business which JSR had cultivated over many years. In recent years, JSR had expanded our technological field from polymer chemistry to the research of complex cell products utilizing state-of-the-art medicine through M&A with the aim of expanding business, and we have been contributing to development of medical care by providing a wide range of solutions.


At JSR-UTokyo Collaboration Hub, CURIE, we aim for development of products with high performance and quality based on the mathematical control of biological phenomena. At the same time, we also aim to discover novel life phenomena. We will be able to achieve these by combining the academic field related to biophysics in The University of Tokyo, Graduate School of Science, Department of Physics with JSR's R & D capabilities and business experience in the life sciences fields. By incorporating new perspectives in biophysics, we will give new interpretations to the big data obtained from omics analysis and bioimaging, and bring theory based innovation
